Durable Powers of Attorney

Powers of attorney allow others to act for you when you cannot act for yourself:

  • Financial powers of attorney–for financial transactions
  • Business powers of attorney–for business transactions
  • Medical powers of attorney–for health care decisions for you if you are incapacitated
  • Advance medical care directives–to provide instructions on the level of medical care that you want.
  • Medical records release powers of attorney–for delegating authority to sign HIPAA medical records release forms.

Durable powers of attorney are effective even when you lack legal capacity. They are an essential part of a properly drafted estate plan.
